
Mike Abston |
Michael Abston was born and raised in Clermont, Florida. After high school he went into the US Army and was stationed overseas in Europe from 1984 to 1987. Mike graduated from UCF in 1993 with his BS in engineering. Work as a project manager for several different companies from 1993 to 2006 in different locations ranging from all over Florida to St. Thomas, USVI.
Mike started diving in 1977 and received his instructor status from PADI in 1994. He currently holds an IDC Staff Instructor rating from PADI, meaning that he assists in teaching people to become PADI dive instructors. Mike has diving experience in south Florida; to include West Palm, Ft. Lauderdale, and the Keys; the British and US Virgin Islands; Cayman Islands; Mexico; the Bahamas; and several other exotic locations.
Since 2006, Mike has resided in Lake County where he has focused on teaching diving as his primary focus. He has primarily dove the local springs, rivers, and coastal lines; and has shown local residents some of his favorite dive sites, such as wrecks and various other reefs. Mike currently is an instructor at The Villages Lifelong Learning College in The Villages, Florida where he is assisting various age groups to experience various underwater adventures.
Mike lived in the Caribbean from 1999 to 2004 where he dove and sailed to various islands. During this stay Mike received his Captains License and Sailing Endorsement. At this time Mike is enjoying being able to share his experiences with various age groups of people and with beginners to experienced divers. |
